10/05/2008 Khalil accused Saniora of crippling the country for more than two years and violating the constitution. "This is the real coup," Khalil said. The opposition MP dismissed and untrue, Saniora's claims that his ministerial team had not issued the two decisions pertaining to the head of the airport security chief Wafiq Shqeir and the communications network of the resistance.
"Today, Saniora claims that the two decisions were not issued by the cabinet, while we all know they were issued and sent to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. This is a copy (shows the document) of the decree, signed by the cabinet secretary general," Kalil said and listed the sides which the signed decree was sent to.
"Trying to outsmart us by putting the decision in the army's hands to look into is fraud," the MP added.
"You should have the courage to implement what the Lebanese Army command asked of you one hour ago, and that is to revoke your decisions and return to dialogue with the two outstanding issues on the agenda: the national unity government and the electoral law, to be crowned with the election of Army Commander General Michel Suleiman as president," Khalil challenged Saniora.

The Speaker's aide also accused Saniora of turning the dialogue that Berri called for into a battle to remain on top of the government. "The dialogue that Speaker Nabih Berri proposed, and which you personally agreed on in 2006, consisted of a national unity government and an electoral law. Since then, you have been trying to turn it into a political battle to remain at the top of the government," Khalil stressed. He added that "we tell the public opinion that the content of your words today reveals that you are obstructing a new electoral law and obstruct dialogue to benefit from the 2000 electoral law. This law was called the Ghazi Kanaan electoral law, but today it is your law. This is the real coup," the MP said. He stressed "the real coup is the one Saniora has been pursuing; that is keeping away a major part of the Lebanese people from decision making, attacking the resistance by trying to besiege it and by practicing political hypocrisy."

Khalil continued to address Saniora saying that "you ask what Hezbollah and Amal are doing on the streets of Beirut. For the last time, Beirut is not the property of one or the other. Beirut is ours; it is theirs; it is the backbone of the resistance who let you return to your hometown Sidon. We do not want to terrorize the country, but preserve its constitution and institutions, including the army, which you today attacked and tried to implicate it in what you refuse to shoulder responsibility for." "We knew that we would pay the price for our resistance to Israel, but not to your republic of oppression," the opposition MP said.
Khalil confirmed that the opposition will withdraw arms from the streets of Beirut and hand over security to the army, but we will continue our civil disobedience campaign.
