| 08/05/2008 The Lebanese army command called on the Lebanese people to be wise and conscious at all levels. In a statement, the army command warned that a lack of feeling of national responsibility and failing to speculate results, in fact limits the army's ability to undertake its national role.
"Abandoning dialogue and insisting on positions, by both sides, constitute detachment from coexistence and adoption of violence as well as a waste of important national achievements," the statement said. It also warned that "if the situation continues as such, everybody will lose and this will damage the military institution especially that the main pillar for the security in Lebanon is harmony not bullets."
The army command also called on all Lebanese groups to find solutions to save Lebanon from the deadlock. "The Lebanese army puts itself at the disposal of all groups to help find these solutions and stresses it will continue to preserve the lives of the citizens and their properties, despite the great difficulties," the statement concluded. |
