| 12/06/2008 The Lebanese daily Addiyar reported Thursday that senior detainee in Israeli Jails Samir Kintar has been told to pack up his belongings and prepare to return to Beirut in the near future.
The report said that Kintar, who has been jailed in Israel since 1979, "would be returned to Lebanon as part of a prisoner swap between Israel and Hezbollah."
Addiyar added that "a number of other Lebanese would also be included in the deal, which could take place by the end of the month."
However, Israeli Yediot Aharonot internet site (Ynet) quoted Prison Service officials as saying that no plans have been made towards Kintar's release and no instructions have been handed down to him. |
