21/06/2008 Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Kassem stressed the party did not issue any statement to condemn or even express resentment at the liberation of the occupied Shebaa Farms. "On the contrary it's liberation is a fulfillment of the objective," his eminence said. Sheikh Kassem added that when US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice mentioned the word "Shebaa", she prompted some Lebanese sides to circulate that Hezbollah is not at ease with the liberation of the Farms. "We say to them that we haven't made our position yet. Let the Farms be liberated first," the Deputy S.G. said.
"In fact, we have been clear. If the Farms are liberated to the last inch, whether through diplomacy or resistance, then this would be an Israeli escape. We would be happy if all of the Shebaa Farms region in liberated. If they liberate it inch after inch, we would celebrate every liberated inch at a time. If they put it under UN care, we will bless this move, but we will also tell the United Nations that this would not be complete liberation unless the region is back to Lebanese sovereignty. Liberate the Shebaa Farms and we will sit down and discuss a defensive strategy and we will all become a resistance that works for Lebanon's interest," Sheikh Kassem concluded.
