30/06/2008 The Lebanese army command on Monday urged troops to safeguard their unity by disregarding media agitation.
In a release to soldiers and officers, the army command warned that some factions harmed by the a climate of reconciliation following recent violence, especially in the Bekaa region and northern Lebanon, seek to disturb security.

The release urges troops to regard the sensitivity of this period and lend a deaf ear to what's being circulated in some media outlets from reports to opinions and denominational criticism that only serve instability.
Some media outlets, the release said, also charge up reports which "misguide citizens and agitate feeling." “Some politicians and political analysts are giving false statements and casting doubts over the army’s role, and they are interfering in its internal operations in an attempt to make it take sides and get it involved in the sectarian struggle,” the army statement read.

The release also said army units should "cooperate with citizens, especially in tense areas, by encouraging them to relay information about developments in their neighborhoods."

The command reiterated that it would save no effort to safeguard the people's security and safety and reiterated the army’s readiness to make sacrifices and help rebuild the country.
