16/07/2008 Once again, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon marks victory against the Israeli enemy and unifies all Lebanese despite their wide political differences.

On Wednesday, Hezbollah and Israel carried out a prisoner exchange dubbed Operation Al-Redwan, in reference to Hezbollah military top commander martyr Imad Moghniyyeh (Hajj Redwan). In the framework of the operation, all Lebanese detainees in Israeli prisons, including senior detainee Samir Kintar, return to their country and the remains of some 200 martyrs will be transferred to Lebanon in exchange for the remains of two Israeli soldiers.

All political parties hailed the operation as a victory, congratulated the resistance and praised its struggle until fulfilling its Sincere Promise. They also agreed on calling to consider July 26, 2008, as a national unity day.

AOUN CONGRATULATES RESISTANCE, SAYS HONORING DETAINEES IS A MUST
The head of the Reform and Change parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun was the first to hail the operation, calling the day as a national unity one.
Speaking to Al-Jazeera, Aoun congratulated the Resistance and expressed gratitude to the negotiators "who showed a high level of professionalism."

Aoun said that honoring the detainees was a must, stressing that the Lebanese Army and the Resistance were not on opposite sides. "The Resistance protects the army, and the army protects the Resistance. The only difference is the method," Aoun pointed out.

He concluded that the issue of Hezbollah weapons will be dealt with through the defense strategy that was mentioned in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah.

JUMBLATT FOR LIBERATING SHEBAA, PALESTINE, SAYS ISRAEL ONLY UNDERSTANDS FORCE
For his part, the head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt called the day a national one par excellence, adding that it is part of a long struggle that started in Al-Arkoub with the Lebanese National Movement and is being continued and crowned by the Islamic Resistance.

Jumblatt stressed that the Policy statement of the national unity government must satisfy everyone, calling on liberating the occupied Shebaa Farms either by diplomatic or military means.

The Progressive Socialist Party leader also called to continue the struggle to liberate Palestine, “that big jail for the Palestinians.” "Israel's policy is experiencing a major failure, as it has not achieved anything with its ongoing aggression against Palestine and Lebanon," he stressed, concluding that "it seems that Israel only understands force."

BERRI: WEDNESDAY IS A DAY TO CELEBRATE FREEDOM, MARTYRS, HUMAN RIGHTS
For his part, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said that Wednesday was a day to celebrate freedom, martyrs and human rights. He added that Operation Al-Redwan was a celebration of "our right to live."

He called on all his supporters to participate in the celebrations that will be held in honor of the Lebanese released from Israeli jails.

MINISTER MURR: DAY OF VICTORY, UNITY OF PEOPLE, ARMY AND RESISTANCE
Earlier, Defense Minister Elias al-Murr congratulated the Lebanese people in general and the Resistance in particular over the release of detainees from Israeli prisons. "Today is a day of victory for the unity of the people, the army and Resistance," Murr said in a statement.

He also said that the return of the detainees and the remains of martyrs to Lebanon is the result of the sacrifices of all factions of the Lebanese society, saying "martyrs of the Lebanese army and those of the Resistance fell side by side."

PATRIARCH SFEIR: OPERATION AL-REDWAN IS POSITIVE
Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir described Operation Al-Redwan between Hezbollah and Israel as "positive," expecting the different aspects of the Lebanese issue to be settled soon. He also called all Lebanese to unify ranks and wished the newly-established government success.

KARAMI CALLS TO PARTICIPATE IN VICTORY CELEBRATION, ACHIEVE HISTORIC RECONCILIATION
For his part, former Prime Minister Omar Karami congratulated all Lebanese for the fulfillment of Operation Al-Redwan, hoping this occasion would urge them to unify not only through participation in the "victory celebration" but also by achieving the historic reconciliation.

"Reconciliation is actually expressed in rejecting disunity, burying sedition and withdrawing from the suspicious scheme to gather around the project of building the fair and strong state that is strengthened by the brave resistance," Karami said.
SHATILA CONGRATULATES SAYYED NASRALLAH: ANOTHER VICTORY FOR HEROIC RESISTANCE
For his part, the head of the Lebanese Popular Congress Party Kamal Shatila congratulated Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, saying that this historic achievement constitutes a new victory for the heroic Islamic Resistance against the Israeli enemy and a continuation for the July 2006 victory.
