Loyalty Bloc Hails Sayyed Nasrallah Speech as Positive

03/07/2008 Just after Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah ended a press conference he held on Wednesday over the swap deal reached with Israel at the basis of indirect negotiations, welcome statements and greeting positions emerged from his rivals before the allies.

Indeed, Sayyed Nasrallah's speech, although dedicated to only expose the details of the swap deal, included multiple positive signs. For instance, he congratulated all the Lebanese for the victory, hoping they would all consider it their own achievement. "We will deal with it just as we dealt with the 2000 victory and we will not use this new achievement for internal ends. This is our principle and these are our values," he said.

His eminence also announced Hezbollah’s absolute openness to any political meeting under any title and in any context if it helps in uniting Lebanon, preserving civil peace and overcoming the previous phase in Lebanon.

JUMBLATT HAILS SAYYED NASRALLAH SPEECH AS ENCOURAGING
One of the first comments came from the head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt who hailed Sayyed Nasrallah's statement as encouraging, noting it included positive signs.

"We are ready for dialogue and didn’t reject it at any time," he told the Lebanese daily As-Safir. He also noted that dialogue is a main element of the Doha Agreement. "Nothing prevents a dialogue being held without preconditions by any party," he added.

Jumblatt announced he will take part in the welcoming ceremony for liberated detainee Samir Kintar and other detainees to be freed soon as part of a swap deal between Hezbollah and Israel. "This issue goes beyond any security or political considerations," Jumblatt said, adding that it was "a humble gesture to show appreciation to all those who were involved in the struggle against the Israeli enemy."

SANIORA CIRCLES HAIL SPEECH AS POSITIVE AND CONVENIENT
For their part, Prime Minister-Designate Fouad Saniora circles said the tone of the resistance leader speech was positive and convenient, hoping it could lead to the full implementation of the Doha accord.

As-Safir quoted well-informed political sources as saying that an official comment would be issued later on by Saniora, noting that the latter will take part in greeting the detainees, vowing to "make this day a national holiday."

FUTURE MOVEMENT SOURCES TO TAKE PART IN 'NATIONAL WEDDING CEREMONY'
Meanwhile, the head of the Future Movement MP Saad Hariri circles refused to comment on Sayyed Nasrallah's press conference "at the moment", whereas prominent sources in the Future movement stressed the group would "openly and flexibly deal" with it. They confirmed the group "will take part in the national wedding ceremony."

Speaking to Lebanese daily As-Safir, the sources pointed out that the cabinet should constitute the first step in gathering Hezbollah and Hariri, recalling of Hariri's statement from the Baabda presidential palace on Tuesday.

Loyalty bloc Christian sources also expressed positivism and openness towards Sayyed Nasrallah speech and his call for dialogue, emphasizing that weapons should be kept outside the domestic equation, praising the Hezbollah leader's refusal to profit form the victory in internal politics.

SULEIMAN CONGRATULATES SAYYED NASRALLAH ON ACHIEVEMENT
Earlier, President Michel Suleiman received a Hezbollah delegation that included Sayyed Nasrallah's political aide Hajj Hussein Khalil and Hezbollah senior official Hajj Wafiq Safa.

Suleiman was reportedly quoted as expressing his desire of greeting the freed detainees and extending his congratulations to Sayyed Nasrallah and the resistance on their achievements.
